Add one of our vests in a coordinating print for many different looks. Here we are using washable batik rayon from www.batikbutik.com Photo 1 The base for our Vest wardrobe – Short Sleeve Shell with sleeves lengthened and Flat Front Pant. The shell is shown with the V neckline. There are four options for necklines in this pattern. You can make the pant with two waist styles – full elastic waist or tailored waistband with partial, side-back elastic. Both pant and top are in solid black – it’s slimming and will go with so much more. Photo 2 & 3 First we made the Tuxedo Wrap Vest in the teal print. If you are looking for this print, it’s called “secret weapon”. We liked the print so much we made a second pair of pants in it. So now we have two pairs, a print and a solid to interchange with our collection of vests. Photo 4 There was enough of the print left to add a trim to something, so we took the Shapely Zip Front Vest and made a couple of modifications. Sewers do love to make modifications! First we added a little overlap to the center front for a button extension. Then we drew out a facing that we topstitch on the outside of the vest. Simple! A Pattern Extender is available if you’d like instructions. Photo 5 This is Tunic Length Vest in a gingko print. We lengthened the vest (instructions are in the pattern) to make the duster. Notice how the side vent openings go from hip to hem. Very elegant over the black pant and very easy!
