Greetings from Petite Plus Patterns!

Here in Sointula the weather is dark and grey from late Fall to Spring. But the locals know how to brighten the mood when they celebrate Winterfest at the end of November. The talented folks get together in the community hall to display wonderful works of art, crafts and holiday foods. In the evening there is a stage performance of singing, dancing and hilarity. This year I dawned a wig and my glitziest dress to be part of a lip-synching group called The 4 Kathleens. What fun!

Lots of Bling!

That's me on the far left.

This amazing dress is an eye-popper and I get tons of ohs & ahs when I wear it. It's so EASY to make that I'm a little embarrassed to receive all the compliments.

Two secrets to the ease and speed of this dress:

First, it's made from pre-embellished fabric.
This piece came from Kreiner Fabrics. Mention their name to your fabric seller when you shop.

Second, the pattern is a lengthened version of our #103 Button Front Blouse.

Here's how to make a fast party outfit.

For the easiest evening wear, cut a basic pattern in a sumptuous fabric.

Our pattern #103 Button Front Blouse is a great basic for both day and evening wear.

Add your favourite jewelry and you are ready for the party!

Here's the blouse with long sleeves in a cobalt blue silk jacquard.

Wear it with your favourite skirt or pant.

I like to add a Flat Front Pant #601 in the same fabric for an elegant ensemble.

Dress up a simple outfit.

In this modified version of the blouse, we lengthened the pattern and attached a scarf to the back neck.

This long blouse is cut from silk devore and makes a beautiful topper over any pant ensemble or, as shown in the photo, over our #303 All Season Dress.

Make your own glitzy dress.

If you visited Petite Plus Patterns at one of the Fall sewing shows, you may have seen my glitzy peacock dress.

Here it is worn over a lengthened All Season Dress cut in blue satin.

Many thanks to Kreiner Fabrics ( They provided the beautiful fabric for both the long and the short dress.

To make the over-dress, the blouse pattern was lengthened and the front was cut with its centre line on fold.

There is no zipper to insert - the dress is just pulled on over the head.

There are no facings - the neckline is finished with bias trim.

If you choose a pre-embellished fabric, there will be no hem to sew.

All that's left for you to do is practice accepting compliments!
